Welcome Back!

Although the more studious kids on the block have probably already been back for a few days now ( I do wonder if some people left the library at all) Loughborough is officially springing back into life this weekend!

The famous Loughborough town and gown relationship is a favourite conversation topic for some people in these parts but there is no denying the impact the student population has on the economy and general atmosphere of this little market town. Although at times this relationship can be quite fragile I'm sure the vast majority of the town, especially the business owners, will be delighted to see the parents cars crammed with boxes coming back down Ashby Road.

The Arrogance extends a warm welcome back to you all. We all know that the dreaded exam season is just around the corner but there is always time for one more night out!

Make sure you work hard now and stay safe - we don't want to hear that any light fingered local has got away with any of those Christmas gifts.

HEL YES!

I'd heard about the film from a few friends and decided to finally sit down and watch it on Tuesday night.

Helvetica is a documentary film by, the New York based, Independent film maker and director Gary Hustwit. This is what he has to say about it;

"Why make a film about a typeface, let alone a feature documentary film about Helvetica? Because it's all around us. You've probably already seen Helvetica several times today. It might have told you which subway platform you needed, or tried to sell you investment services or vacation getaways in the ads in your morning paper. Maybe it gave you the latest headlines on television, or let you know whether to 'push' or 'pull' to open your office door. "

The power of Helvetica really is impressive and probably something you won't notice without watching the film. Although I must admit this isn't the sexiest film to grace my screen it does make for very interesting viewing and will make you appreciate the beauty of Helvetica all the more. I recommend you put it at the top of your "to watch" list.
